Fixing America

Let's face it. The United States of America is broken. However, unlike the doom and gloom crowd, I don't think that it's broken beyond repair. No, it's not all George Bush's fault either. Yes, he has made some very serious mistakes in his presidency, but it goes way beyond him and his administration. He's just a convenient scapegoat for those Elites that wish for this country to fail for their own self-agrandizing benefit. Yes, we can fix this country, but we are going to have to stop this divide and conquer bullshit coming from both the Left and the Right, roll up our collective sleeves, and get down to business. It's going to take some work, and it's not going to be easy. It's going to take time—maybe years—and it's going to involve both facing reality and sacrifice from both sides of the political spectrum.

First and foremost, we have to face the dark reality of what is happening throughout the world, and pay attention to national security. Nothing else will matter for us, if America is destroyed by Islamofascism. Our efforts to secure this country are half assed at best. We ignorantly ignored the rising Islamic threat for years, and it finally bit us in the face on 9/11. While it's convenient to blame the Bush Administration and/or the Clinton Administration, the threat goes back for years before either one.

There were terrorist attacks against American interests going back to the 1970s. 9/11, however, should have been the final straw. Enough is enough. There is the very good possibility of a nuclear attack from Islamic terrorists that would take out one or several of our major cities. After 9/11 we should have nipped the problem in the bud once and for all, and the Hell with the opinions of the "enlightened" liberal elite assholes both here in American and in Europe. Look at the Islamic problem in Western Europe, and ask yourself if you want to see that happening here in the United States. I don't. Secretly, Europe would have been relieved despite their whining and pontificating if after 9/11 we had turned the Middle East into a sheet of glass. The "enlightened" in Europe and here too, would have screamed bloody murder for about two weeks, and then they would have gotten over it. Again, America would have kept them safe to pursue their ingrained Narcissistic Socialist lifestyle of appeasement and sloth—and yes, they would still hate us. Personally, I don't care. We can make brie here just as well as the French can. Samuel Adams beer is just as good as anything you can get from Germany.

President Bush's biggest mistakes in the war against Islamofascism are as follows: First of all, he should have gone to Congress and asked for a formal declaration of war instead of just authorization to use force. With a formal declaration of war like we had during World War II, the rules are different. You have the War Powers Acts in Article 1 and Article 2 of the United States Constitution. Most importantly, it would be easier to prosecute treason. The last time that the United States prosecuted anyone for treason was in 1947. Herbert Hans Haupt was a German spy. He was tried, convicted and executed by a military tribunal, and his father, Hans Max Haupt was tried, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison for "aiding and abetting" his son's espionage by providing him with a house and car while having full knowledge of his son's activities. It's time for our government to start going after those that are working to take down this country.

It's time to ferret out, prosecute, convict, imprison, and execute the rogue agents working in the NSA, State Department, and CIA who are leaking classified information to the press. These people are our enemies, the so called "Fifth Column." We also need to go after their conspirators in the media like Bill Keller of the New York Times. When Keller decided to publish classified information despite pleas from the government that the information would be detrimental to our national security, he should have been brought up on charges of treason the moment the paper hit the street. He should have been given a deal: Give up your sources who are leaking this information or face capital charges of treason. If he refused, he should have been swinging from a military gallows at Fort Levenworth two weeks later. The same thing with reporter, Mark Manzetti. We are at war. Give up your sources Manzetti, or hang. Freedom of the press does not include treason. There is a big difference between publishing an editorial opinion piece condemning the current administration for their handling of the war and actually aiding the enemy by publishing leaked classified information. The former is rightfully covered under our constitution. The latter is in clear violation of federal law. It's not "whistle blowing," it's treason. When is the Bush Administration going to take this seriously? I'm not holding my breath.

Securing our borders needs to be the next thing on the agenda. In fact, I think securing our borders should be the first thing on the list of things to do. Congress approves a 700 mile fence, and then un-approves it? That's like voting for the war before you voted against it. Give me a break. The Mexican Border is over 2,000 miles long! The Canadian Border is over 3,000 miles long. Both borders need to be secured. We also need to use National Guard troops to work in conjunction with the ICE border agents. We need to stop the futile catch and release policy. If we detain illegals crossing the border, we need to detain them and then ship them back across the border, not give them a "parking ticket" and tell them to show up for a court hearing. I also like Pat Buchannan's ideas. Any illegal convicted of a felony would be deported as soon as they get out of jail. Also, any member of a gang who is illegal, would be rounded up and deported. He also calls for a fifteen year moratorium on all immigration so that those already here can assimilate into the American culture. Let's take things one step further. Let's not allow illegals to use anchor babies to guarantee their staying in America. This is going to sound harsh, but this is my way to fix the problem. The baby born in this country is a US citizen even if the parents are illegal aliens. That is guaranteed in our constitution. If we are not willing to amend the constitution, let's take the following action: The baby stays, and the illegal parents get shipped back. There are plenty of childless couples out there that would provide wonderful adoptive homes for those babies. Do this a few hundred times, and there will be a lot less illegals coming up here to have their kids, so that they can stay.

All that being said, most of the illegals are coming up from Central America, with the majority of them coming from Mexico. We have to encourage Mexico to become a free market country, and end their love affair with elite driven Socialism. They need to build their economic base, and we need to take a lead roll in helping them do that. It's in our best interest. If Mexicans could find jobs in Mexico, why would they want to risk their lives sneaking across the border in the back of a tractor trailer in 120 degree weather or deal with crossing a desert for miles and miles so that they can work some menial job up here? They wouldn't. I can hear the doom and gloom crowd now: "All we will be doing then is allowing big corporate interests to EXPLOIT Third World workers for cheap wages so that the corporations can make big money, so that they can give more money to George Bush." First of all, let's dissect this Marxist/Socialist/Anti-Capitalist bullshit. Number one, our corporations would not be exploiting Third World workers. We would be creating jobs for them—jobs that they are crying to have. Yes, they will be paid less money than they would be working for in a comparable job here in the US, but that's because the standard of living is a lot less. You can go down to Mexico and live quite comfortably on about $200 per week. Many AMERICAN retirees are doing just that. They have taken advantage of the lower cost of living in order to increase their lifestyle by "EXPLOITING" the lower standard of living in a Second World country. Paying Mexican workers a wage that is commensurate to their cost of living is a win win situation. They have a job, and we get good quality goods at a reasonable price. Then these goods like wide screen TVs, nice clothing, etc. can be sold at big evil WalMart so that the average American can now afford goods that previously were only available to the wealthy.

Why is the Left against this? Because, it means that the average "stupid" Red State individual who is not an "afluent enlightened Narcissistic Elite" like they are, can now afford to buy things that should only be available to them. How dare Joe Average think he's entitled to something that only Elites feel they are entitled to, and then be able to afford it. It's not FAIR! It's not fair that Joe Non-Elite Dumbass can actually buy something somewhere else than Goodwill and the Salvation Army. How DARE he want more than two pairs of pants.

The other thing that needs to be done to discourage illegal immigration is to deny illegals access to all social safety nets including free medical care. We also need to go after the employers that are hiring illegals. Start raiding the hospitality industry, restaurants, and construction sites and start fining employers one million dollars per illegal employed. Before we do this we need to change a few laws. We need to expose why Congress won't do anything to curb illegals. First of all, most illegals are working with fake Social Security numbers. These are numbers that don't exist in the first place. When an employer goes to check the validity of a person's social security number with the Social Security Administration, they are not able to verify it, because of "Privacy Issues." This needs to change if you are going to enforce the law in regards to hiring illegals. You can't hold a business accountable for something that is not their fault, especially when the government won't provide them with the information they need when it's requested according to the law. For Congress, especially for tax and spend Democrats, having illegals contribute to Social Security using phony account numbers, means that that money can never be claimed as Social Security benefits. Therefore, it's a windfall to spend on more "Pork." It's not just the big evil corporations getting cheap labor. It's more money to buy votes.

Speaking of votes, illegals serve another purpose. It's the creation of another underclass that when allowed to vote, legally or illegally, will vote for the party that promises them the most social program benefits. The original underclass, the African-Americans, are now moving into the middle, upper middle, and upper classes in record numbers. Check Census Bureau records if you don't believe me. I teach in a private school, and there are quite a few black students in this $25,000 a year prep school. Their parents have money, and there are more and more black students in this school every year. The percentage of black "victims of society" is getting smaller. As they become more prosperous, they also tend to vote Republican. The Democrats know that if they ever lose more than 70% of the black vote, they will never be able to elect another President. Therefore, they need to replace the escapees from the plantation with another group of slaves. Those slaves are now the Hispanics coming in here illegally in record numbers.

Let's not allow the creation of another underclass, while at the same time make things easier for Black Americans to become business owners by easing regulations regarding small businesses. Also, let's change Affirmative Action laws to become economically based rather than race based. The primary beneficiaries of Affirmative Action are the middle and upper middle class blacks that don't need Affirmative Action in the first place. Their kids are going to get into college regardless. Their parents have the money, and they have the grades and SAT scores to get into college without Afirmative Action programs. Concentrate on the smart kids from the lower classes, both black and white, who can benefit from the helping hand of Affirmative Action. The middle and upper classes, regardless of race, don't need it. First of all, we will end up with a more prosperous and safer society. The inner city ghettos in more cities will experience a Renaissance like sections of Washington, DC and Harlem in New York City are experiencing. The other benefit will be the relegating of more Marxist Socialism in America to its rightful place in the dumpster of history where it truly belongs.

We need to seriously revamp our public education system. Let's take a good look at that laughing stock program called the No Child Left Behind Act. It does nothing to really improve the quality of our education, and costs billions in wasted taxpayer dollars. It forces teachers to concentrate on the so called "Bubble Kids." Those are the ones that are just barely borderline below the minimum standard for raising the school districts statistics in order to be in compliance with the Act. The kids below the borderline kids get very little attention, and the bright kids and kids above the borderline get very little attention. If you are going to have the Act in its present form, it needs to be modified. Success should be based on how it brings up all the kids below the "bubble" as well as developing the the skills of the advanced kids. Better yet, let's scrap the whole pile of horse shit, and have realistic education reform that is based on tough minimum standards for all, that need to be rigorously enforced with standardized national tests. They could be based on something like the New York State Regents Exams. If you don't pass, you don't go on to the next grade. If you are the big stupid and lazy thirteen year old in the third grade, so be it. I don't give a rat's ass about your "self-esteem." Also, don't let kids drop out of school until they are eighteen. Once you are an adult, you can make your own decisions. Until then, you don't. It's that simple. I can hear the claim now: "All teachers will be doing then is teaching to the test." Let's see, they will be teaching facts and skills rather than Socialist "values." This bullshit coming from the education establishment means that they are afraid that teachers will have to teach subject matter, and not spend their time being as John Dewey ordained, "agents of change." It makes sense to me. What should be measured are Math skills, English skills, US History, Civics, and Science skills at the elementary level, tested at the end of each year. There need to be fair minimum standards that must be passed before you advance to the next grade. Once in middle school and high school, you measure the skills based on the course subject matter including music and art if taken. You don't expect someone to take a test in Calculus when they are taking Algebra I. You have minimum national standards for Calculus when they are taking Calculus. Another advantage to national standard tests, is it will weed out the bad teachers. Why do you think the unions are so against testing? If a large percentage of a teacher's students are not scoring well on a test, it means that there just might be a problem with the teacher's ability to teach.

I'm really going to make enemies with this one too. It's my way of dealing with one of the major problems with our education system, and that's chronic disruptive behavior. The private schools have no problem with it. They just throw them out. However, the public schools don't have that luxury. They should. There are just some students that are basically nothing but Sociopaths. For them, disruption is all about power and control. They don't need to be in special classes during the day, and then go home at night to whatever environment is fueling that behavior. We need to have special public boarding schools where we send these disruptive students. They need to be run with the harsh discipline of a military boot camp. These "foul balls" as my school teacher dad used to call them, need to spend a year away from whatever environment they have that permits their antisocial behavior. These "little darlings" don't need tender loving care. They need a good swift kick in the ass. For the worst cases, you need an old fashioned network of reform schools like they had in the good old days. The boot camp schools should be the yank on the chain so that most of those kids won't end up in either reform school, jail, or dead. A well educated population means a successful population. We need to concentrate on doing what it takes to develop the individual to his or her potential rather than developing the individual into being a preordained part of the collective.

It's going to take work to fix this country, and we better start doing it now. Let's stop all this divide and conquer mentality, agree to disagree, and work together to make this country great again. It's not just our future. It's the future of our children, our children's' children, and our children's children's children that is at stake. It's called common sense.
